I’d like to call an emergency meeting of the DFMM. Well, more like last minute, then emergency. Tuesday at the Rath al Fresco (at the Athenaeum) at about six. The packers/movers will finish with my home tuesday, and we’re staying at the Ath before we leave. Dinner at the Rath is a casual setting. Please let me know if you’ll make it, even if you are just a maybe for now.

It’s Wednesday July 15th at 7pm.

I’m moving to Miami in three weeks. So, it will be my farewell too. I have about 3 cases of wine to go through before I move – I don’t want to deal with the hassle of shipping them. So, that will be our theme that night – drinking the various wines I own. I’ll run the BBQ pit for food, beef or salmon or something.

Hi all. Just a reminder that beer night is tomorrow night at our (Sarahliz and Brad’s) place @ 7:30.

We’ll be in the backyard (unless it’s rainy and cold, in which case we can be inside) so you can just come around back via the driveway. Call my cell if you get lost or anything else comes up. 213-361-8047

There will be beer and food. I’m still working out exactly what I’ll prepare food-wise but there will be grilled things (of both the meat and vegetable persuasion) and not grilled things.

Join me at Mission Tiki this Thursday to see a double bill of “the Hangover” and the new Terminator movie. Mission Tiki drive-in is awesome, they don’t care what food or drink you bring in, you can smoke while you watch the film, the old guys working the gate I think are stoned half the time and IT’S A DAMN DRIVE-IN.

They also have corn dogs.

I like to bring chairs and sit outside when the weather is nice, and when it isn’t, you can huddle in the car and neck.

I believe the date chosen was Wednesday April 22, because that’s the only time Alejandro will be in the country. I will be in GCI pre-production hell and may possibly not attend, so please do not assume I am in charge of this event. I believe the notion is that it will spontaneously self-organize.

Only, I don’t remember what day I’m supposed to do it so I’ll match it to my personal travel schedule and say March 19 March 26. If that’s wrong, lemme know soon.  Le Petit Vendome does not usually do dinners, but they will for special events.  I’m going to negotiate with them for some kind of dinner-y thing between $15 and $20, and assume ten people.  I’m open to change and discussion and stuff.

From The Man himself:

Scotch tasting last week was so good, we’re going to do it again! Please bring a scotch that you’d like to share with us, and we’ll all do the same. Send me the name of the scotch you are going to bring, so I can organize a blind tasting to start off the evening. I figure a quarter bottle per person is sufficient.

Tomorrow, I will post the Scotches that I’m providing, and what others are providing as the names come in.

I have about 6 glasses, which won’t be enough for each of us to have multiple glasses.  So, I ask that you also bring two glasses for yourself.

I’ll be providing bottled water and ice (ed: ice in whisky is right out) to go with the scotch, as well as crackers and dark chocolate.  I’m considering doing a pork roast, to increase our ability to drink scotch.

I have a bed and a futon in the back house, drunkards may spend the night.
