Brother Alejandro writes in with an urgent request:

I’d like to call an emergency meeting of the DFMM. Well, more like last minute, then emergency. Tuesday at the Rath al Fresco (at the Athenaeum) at about six. The packers/movers will finish with my home tuesday, and we’re staying at the Ath before we leave. Dinner at the Rath is a casual setting. Please let me know if you’ll make it, even if you are just a maybe for now.

The DFMM Monthly meeting will be held at my place this month.

It’s Wednesday July 15th at 7pm.

I’m moving to Miami in three weeks. So, it will be my farewell too. I have about 3 cases of wine to go through before I move – I don’t want to deal with the hassle of shipping them. So, that will be our theme that night – drinking the various wines I own. I’ll run the BBQ pit for food, beef or salmon or something.

Here’s to a DFMM branch in Miami!

Bowling – July 1

The next DFMM bowling night will be Wednesday, July 1, at 7pm at Chaparral Lanes in San Dimas. According to their web site, most of the alley is reserved for league play then (mark it zero, Smokey), but there are some lanes that should be open. On the flip side, since it’s league play, that means we probably won’t have to put up with black lights, strobes, or smoke machines. And their per-hour price is only $1 higher than at All-Star…

June Beer Night

Sarahliz, who is currently unable to post to the Wolfen, says:

Hi all. Just a reminder that beer night is tomorrow night at our (Sarahliz and Brad’s) place @ 7:30.

We’ll be in the backyard (unless it’s rainy and cold, in which case we can be inside) so you can just come around back via the driveway. Call my cell if you get lost or anything else comes up. 213-361-8047

There will be beer and food. I’m still working out exactly what I’ll prepare food-wise but there will be grilled things (of both the meat and vegetable persuasion) and not grilled things.

DFMM Drive-In Movie Night

I realize this is the night after beer night, but that’s when the movies I want to see are showing. If anyone is still hung over from beer night, just roll out in your PJs and bring some extra beer to nurse you through the loud parts.

Join me at Mission Tiki this Thursday to see a double bill of “the Hangover” and the new Terminator movie. Mission Tiki drive-in is awesome, they don’t care what food or drink you bring in, you can smoke while you watch the film, the old guys working the gate I think are stoned half the time and IT’S A DAMN DRIVE-IN.

They also have corn dogs.

I like to bring chairs and sit outside when the weather is nice, and when it isn’t, you can huddle in the car and neck.

I am going bowling tonight at 8pm at the new bowling alley “300″ in Pasadena (well, it’s actually the remodeled Bahama Lanes in Hastings Ranch). This is not an official DFMM function – I just felt like bowling tonight. Feel free to join me if you like – I won’t be offended if you don’t.

April Beer Night

At last night’s meeting, we determined that although we’ve all enjoyed these outings into Scotch and Wine land, it’s time to get back to basics. Therefore, in April, Beer Night heads back to The Stuffed Sandwich.

I believe the date chosen was Wednesday April 22, because that’s the only time Alejandro will be in the country. I will be in GCI pre-production hell and may possibly not attend, so please do not assume I am in charge of this event. I believe the notion is that it will spontaneously self-organize.

WHERE: Mission Hills Bowl; 10430 Sepulveda Blvd, Mission Hills, CA (about a half mile south of the 118 freeway, and just a few blocks east of the 405). Look! A map!
WHEN: Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 1pm.
WHY: Because it’s March, and we’re going bowling? Bowling Czarinas don’t need a reason!
