At last night’s meeting, we determined that although we’ve all enjoyed these outings into Scotch and Wine land, it’s time to get back to basics. Therefore, in April, Beer Night heads back to The Stuffed Sandwich.
I believe the date chosen was Wednesday April 22, because that’s the only time Alejandro will be in the country. I will be in GCI pre-production hell and may possibly not attend, so please do not assume I am in charge of this event. I believe the notion is that it will spontaneously self-organize.
WHO: You, and the DFMM Bowling army!
WHAT: Bowling
WHERE: Mission Hills Bowl; 10430 Sepulveda Blvd, Mission Hills, CA (about a half mile south of the 118 freeway, and just a few blocks east of the 405). Look! A map!
WHEN: Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 1pm.
WHY: Because it’s March, and we’re going bowling? Bowling Czarinas don’t need a reason!
If you still want to jaunt over to the Liquor Depot, their hours are 12-5pm. If you want to take advantage of the Sunday special at the alley, show up early and bowl from 9-12 for a mere $1.50 per game. Interested in carpooling? Speak up here.
Come! Join us, and bring friends.
…is actually wine night.
Only, I don’t remember what day I’m supposed to do it so I’ll match it to my personal travel schedule and say March 19 March 26. If that’s wrong, lemme know soon. Le Petit Vendome does not usually do dinners, but they will for special events. I’m going to negotiate with them for some kind of dinner-y thing between $15 and $20, and assume ten people. I’m open to change and discussion and stuff.
Le Petit Vendome
906 Granite Drive, Pasadena, CA
Essentially you go to that short stubby bit of road that isn’t San Pasquale and turn right into the parking lot.
EDIT: FUCK, I CANNOT READ A CALENDAR. MARCH 26!! Not MARCH 19!! Let’s go for 6:30 pm?
Just a reminder that February’s bowl was rescheduled to tomorrow evening, at 8ish. We’ll meet at the Alhambra bowl, sans bowler hats.
See you then.
It’s festival time, folks. DFMM hour starts at 11:30 AM this Sunday at Delerium. We’re going to shoot for a taster around-the-world. Be there.
Because February is super short, and stuff, you get a week’s notice. Because March is so long, the tentative plan is to have two bowling dates, including a Sunday bowl date near the Liquor Depot.
February’s bowling will be Wednesday, February 18th at 8pm. We’ll meet up at the Alhambra bowl, and all that jazz. Your bowling czarina will be late, as I’ve got a gig in the valley that evening. Bowling can go til midnight, or whenever they kick us out.
If this conflicts with beer night, let me know, and we’ll talk.
The DFMM’s own Champion of Great Awesomeness Alejandro is proud to announce:
DFMM ScotchLuck 2009.
Who: The DFMM
What: ScotchLuck event (drinking)
Where: Alejandro’s place
When: Friday, Feb 6, 2009. 8pm. RSVP to Alejandro by 2/4/2009.
Why: Exactly.
From The Man himself:
Scotch tasting last week was so good, we’re going to do it again! Please bring a scotch that you’d like to share with us, and we’ll all do the same. Send me the name of the scotch you are going to bring, so I can organize a blind tasting to start off the evening. I figure a quarter bottle per person is sufficient.
Tomorrow, I will post the Scotches that I’m providing, and what others are providing as the names come in.
I have about 6 glasses, which won’t be enough for each of us to have multiple glasses. So, I ask that you also bring two glasses for yourself.
I’ll be providing bottled water and ice (ed: ice in whisky is right out) to go with the scotch, as well as crackers and dark chocolate. I’m considering doing a pork roast, to increase our ability to drink scotch.
I have a bed and a futon in the back house, drunkards may spend the night.
Contact Alejandro for location and directions. If you don’t have Alejandro’s contact information, contact Corey or Ryan to get it.
I don’t follow football, but our next bowling date is just days away from Superbowl XLIII.
We’re going to have our own Super DFMM Bowl, on Wednesday, January 28th.
What makes this bowl so super? We’re starting early (b/c Steph asked politely), ending late, with a half time air hockey show (bring your quarters). Okay, maybe three quarter time air hockey show.
Meet at the Alhambra Bowling Center any time after 6:30PM on Wednesday. 1400 E Valley Blvd, Alhambra, CA 91801 They close between 11 and midnight.
If you want to catch a meal before or during, Veg House offers a decent meal for cheap.
